Person Reaches Down to Pet a Black Cat, Turns Out That It Was a Completely Different Animal Instead

If there is one thing that we know for sure, it's that our desire to pet every animal that moves… will eventually get us in trouble. Because we do, we really do want to go pet some stuff that we know we should not be petting. Seriously, is there any self respecting animal person who does not want to go hug a bear? Or cuddle with a pack of lions? Or very gently pet a Tasmanian devil? They're so cute, it's impawssible to question our desires. 

But alas, some wild animals should be left alone. We know that. We leave them alone no matter how much we don't want to. But we know that it will get us in trouble one day. Just like with this person. They thought that they were innocently reaching down to pet their roommate's cute black cat when it turned out to be a completely different animal instead. Thankfully, all turned out well this time, but next time…

    We didn't know what would prompt someone to tweet this out into the world… but now, we do. Now that we have read through this thread and we have seen people's stories… we get it. Yes, we are so lucky that skunks are generally reasonable.

    All of that being said… we would totally love to pet a skunk one day. We did not know that they were friendly, and we know the risk that we face if our specific skunk turns out to not be friendly, and still… we totally want to pet one now.
